Harry and Meghan’s Unexpected Tribute to African American History!

On March 21, Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were part of an event that celebrated African American accomplishments. This event took place in Los Angeles at the SoFi Stadium.

They were attending the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection’s exhibition. This long-running foundation, operated by the Kinsey family, honours the achievements of Black individuals dating back to 1595, and continuing into the present day.

In a video shared on Instagram, Meghan expressed her appreciation towards the Kinsey family for their commitment to highlighting these historical milestones and contributions.

Attendance List

Amongst other attendees at the event were notable personalities such as Tina Knowles, Elaine Welteroth, and TV star Shaun Robinson.

Before the Announcement

Harry and Meghan’s attendance at the exhibition was before news of Princess Kate’s cancer was made public. Princess Kate announced her diagnosis following abdominal surgery in January and confirmed she had been receiving preventative chemotherapy since the end of February.

Statement from Harry and Meghan

In a statement to Us Weekly, Harry and Meghan expressed wishes of health and healing for Kate and her family. They reportedly have been in communication with Kate and her husband, Prince William, since the announcement came out.

The Princess confirmed her diagnosis on March 22, two months after her surgery and after a period of stepping back from public duties. Initially, the doctors believed her condition to be non-cancerous, but further tests post-operation revealed the cancer.

Private Management and Healing

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, have been dealing with this situation privately for the sake of their young children who were informed during their Easter break from school. In a statement, Kate highlighted that she is focusing her energy on healing her mind, body, and spirit and that she’s getting stronger with each passing day.

She kindly asked the public to respect her privacy during her treatment period and conveyed her hope to return to her duties when she’s completely recovered and feels able to do so.
