Imagine being asked to be a flower boy at your friend’s wedding. For Kyle, 42, this surprising request came from Carl, 39, when he was preparing for his own wedding.
The unusual proposition was not an invitation to be a groomsman, which Kyle admittedly found surprising. After all, Carl had played a significant role at Kyle’s own wedding to Amanda Batula in 2021, serving not just as the officiant, but also the co-best man.
So why the sudden role change? Carl lays the responsibility at the feet of his then-fiancĂ©e, Lindsay, 37. During the filming of the season, Carl and Lindsay were engaged and apparently, Lindsay wasn’t keen on having Kyle as a groomsman. The reason for this decision seems to stem from previous disagreements between her and Kyle.
Further fuelling the tension, a clip from season 7 has Kyle referring to Lindsay as a “psycho,” which didn’t exactly smooth things over. But even with this demotion in wedding duties, Kyle insists on expressing his fondness for Carl and Lindsay.
Carl, for his part, recognizes the need to “play ball” with his future wife, hence the flower boy role for Kyle. Despite the strains this situation put on their friendship in 2022, Carl’s relationship with Kyle has since strengthened.
Interestingly, Carl and Lindsay did not go through with their wedding plans. However, Carl and Kyle found a chance to reconnect at Loverboy. Carl notes a palpable improvement in his friendship with Kyle, even describing it as operating on a “different level.”
Having officiated Kyle and Amanda’s wedding, Carl sees himself as an integral part of their lives. Viewers can see how these complex relationship dynamics unfold in the upcoming episode of Summer House, scheduled to air on Bravo on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
