Will Meghan and Her Children Ever Return to the UK?

Following security concerns, Meghan, Prince Archie (4), and Princess Lilibet (2) will not make their way back to the UK. Instead, 39-year-old Prince Harry will be attending the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, celebrated with a church service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8, alone.

Harry and Meghan’s Previous UK Visit

Harry and Meghan, who turned 42, last made a joint trip to the UK in September 2022. This visit coincided with the unfortunate demise of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022. Consequently, the couple extended their stay to pay their final respects.

Security Concerns

In 2020, Harry engaged in a legal tussle to secure enhanced protection for his family after they stepped back from their senior royal roles. The court, however, ruled that the alteration in Harry’s security level was both reasonable and fair.

The U.K. Home Office later made it clear that Harry would not be permitted to finance police protection for his family in England. Furthermore, Harry stated in January 2022 that personal security cannot match the requisite police protection in the UK, reinforcing the family’s concerns.

In May 2023, London’s High Court turned down Harry’s request for police protection. Then, in a rather alarming incident in 2024, Harry and Meghan found themselves in an unexpected car chase in New York City. This event underscored the necessity for extra precautions during their future travels to the metropolis.

Future Plans

Once Prince Harry is back from the UK, he and Meghan have plans to head to Nigeria where they will be engaged in discussions related to the Invictus Games.
